Female Velvet Crab

The Velvet Crab is one of the most appreciated crusteans by seafood lovers because of its exquisite taste. The female Velvet Crab (hembra) is fleshier and tastier than the male (macho) and they dffer by a more convex abdomen. For savoring, there is nothing like pulling the flesh out of every part of their crust.

It can be boiled and is best served lukewarm. The Velvet Crab goes well with rice dishes and shellfish sauces.

Large: 8-9 pieces/kg

Medium: 10-12 pieces/kg

Put the life Velvet Crab in cold, salted water and heat it up until it boils. Depending on the Velvet Crab’s weight, please keep boiling it for as long as

> Female Velvet Crab Large: 8-9 pieces/kg: between 100 – 120g = 4 minutes

> Female Velvet Crab Medium: 10-12 pieces/kg: between 80 – 100g = 3 minutes

When preparing in cold water, the Velvet Crab’s legs are not separated due to contrast to the surrounding water temperature. The amount of salt should be 70g / 1 liter of water and should cover the Brown Crab entirely.
